Holy Basil Batman!!!

Basil, Garlic, Honey, salt, pepper and lemon juice. It’s really that simple.

Give everything a really good blend. You don’t want to break down all of the basil leaves completely so keep an eye on it.

It should still resemble chopped basil.

Green Goddess Basil Base!

And of course the Green Goddess Basil Base is great for freezing. Because lets face it, you have already eaten more fresh basil that you can remember before you ended up here!

I use the Ball Frozen Herb Starter kit shown below. It’s easy to use since it is made from silicone and has a lid. Any of them will do the job. These are 2 tablespoons per cube.

Green Goddess Basil Base

The Green Goddess is an easy way to preserve fresh basil to enjoy in a recipe now or freeze to enjoy the taste of summer after the basil season is over.

Equipment

  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Basil fresh about 45 grams
  • 3 ea garlic cloves
  • 2 Tb honey
  • 1 Tb lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

  • Place basil in the blender or food processor.
  • Add all other ingredients on top of basil and blend until leaves are well chopped and combined.
  • Store in a jar in the fridge or freeze for longer term storage.

Notes

Makes about 1/2 cup of Green Goddess Basil Base.
